About The Position

CSI is in need of a passionate Employment Placement Specialist for our Drapelick Center program located in Bloomfield, CT. The program is an adult residential facility that administers assessments, monitors clients' compliance with service plan goals, and involves clients in services that address their criminogenic tendencies. Through case management, supervision, and provision of evidence-based groups clients gain the tools and support necessary for successful community re-entry. The Employment Placement Specialist will be responsible for providing clients with employment assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in in a social or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university is preferred. At a minimum, one year of experience in guidance, counseling, or job placement.
  • Work experience may be substituted with a specialized degree or certification in the field of guidance, counseling or career development.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills desired.
  • Ability to engage and develop collaborations with community agencies.
  • Proficient skills using the Internet, search engines, video platforms and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with job placement resources both in the RRC and in the community, to include the Department of Labor’s (DOL) One-Stop System.
  • Employment information assistance using computer-based technology and resources which include career assistance software and on-line resources (e.g., Internet, America's Career Info Net, Job Posting Boards, DOL, etc). The EPS will have direct access to the Internet to meet this requirement.
  • Facilitate individual and group training sessions that will include portfolio development, resume writing, proper dress and interview techniques. These sessions are to be documented in the client’s electronic record on the same day the session is held. Both staff and client are to sign off on the session in the electronic record.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling, case management, and post-release follow-up relative to employment within the community, to include the area where the resident plans to live following release.
  • Coordinate client participation in employment job fairs, either on-site or in partnership with other organizations, such as community colleges and the re-entry round tables.
  • Ensure client skills and abilities are appropriately matched with appropriate job opportunities.
  • Meet with unemployed clients at least bi-weekly for individual sessions to ensure progress toward employment. These session are to be documented in the client’s electronic record on the same day the session is held. Both staff and client are to sign off on the session in the electronic record.
  • Ensure all employment reporting is completed by the 5th or next business day.
  • Facilitate Employment Services Group Skills with integrity and fidelity to curriculum/manual. Schedule and conduct make-up sessions as needed. Any deviation from the assigned group schedule must be approved by your Program Director. These session are to be documented in the client’s electronic record on the same day the session is held. Both staff and client are to sign off on the session in the electronic record.
  • Record all sessions with clients and follow procedure to upload these recordings for quality assurance review.
  • Bi-weekly Status Report: If full-time employment, or active progress towards meeting other identified needs and goals is not obtained within 30 days of arrival to the facility, you are to forward to the RRM a biweekly status report of the efforts to assist the client and maintain a copy in the clients file. The EPS and the Case Manager, will develop a plan to involve the client in productive activities such as volunteer work or community service to minimize the amount of idle time. The plan and IPP progress notes regarding the clients efforts and progress will be placed in their case file.
  • Actively participate in quality assurance review session and apply new strategies and techniques presented by QA Coach.
  • Actively participate in PRT meetings and provide and elicit peer support for client issues, identify clients in need of the services of the SSC, and provide updates on the clients currently engaged in service.
  • Maintain client files and ensure compliance with Agency policy regarding confidential information. This confidentiality must be maintained even if you are no longer an employee of CSI.
  • For Home Confinement (HC) clients, you may be required to: Conduct employment sessions at the persons home confinement site Secure urine specimen and Breathalyzer test at the HC site Conduct a search of the client’s vehicle while at the HC site Complete incident reports as needed and submit to PD prior to leaving shift.
  • Register for and attend all required trainings and boosters including but not limited to MI, Case Management, Assessments and Employment group refreshers.
  • Secure urines from same sex clients and complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation in the CSI data collection systems on the day the data is obtained.
  • Conduct employment, job search and home confinement spot checks.
  • Conduct room searches, common area searches and perimeter searches.
  • Conduct pat/pocket searches, facility rounds, and house counts as needed.
  • Assist with serving of meals when assigned.
  • Serve as a role model to clients and staff modeling pro-social behaviors.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and abide by the Agency’s programs, policies, procedures and code of ethics.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
