About The Position

The Employment Navigator provides comprehensive case management, career coaching, job development, and employment placement services to justice-involved participants enrolled in the HiRE Program. This position works closely with local employers, educational institutions, and community partners to connect participants with employment, vocational training, and supportive services that lead to long-term career success. The Employment Navigator serves as a mentor, advocate, and resource while helping participants overcome barriers to employment and achieve sustainable self-sufficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Workforce Development, or a related field. OR High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience providing case management, workforce development, employment services, vocational rehabilitation, or working with justice-involved populations.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license and be eligible for Amity vehicle insurance.
  • Must obtain First Aid and CPR certification AND pass a physical examination and tuberculosis test from a health professional.
  • Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of long-term incarceration; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of incarceration.
  • Recognition of the importance of individual differences created by personalities, cultures, lifestyles, social networks, and other factors that influence behavior.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic case management systems.
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks with multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in the community and within the organization.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participant.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with employers, educational institutions, community partners, and participants.
  • Protect program participants' health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
  • Strong organizational, case management, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of workforce development principles, employment readiness, and career coaching.
  • Ability to establish rapport and build trust with participants from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive case management, career coaching, job development, and employment placement services to participants.
  • Conduct comprehensive eligibility screening, intake, and needs assessments for prospective HiRE students.
  • Develop, review, and update Individual Development Plans (IDP) that support students’ employment and career goals.
  • Monitor participant progress throughout all phases of the program and adjust service strategies as needed to support successful outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case documentation, including participant progress, employment activities, referrals, supportive services, and case notes.
  • Provide individualized employment readiness coaching, including résumé development, interviewing skills, workplace professionalism, job search strategies, and career planning.
  • Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies, as necessary.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with employers, community colleges, workforce agencies, and community-based organizations to expand employment and training opportunities.
  • Maintain comprehensive case records and accurate statistical information for participants and services, including all the required elements of the IDP.
  • Conduct employer outreach and coordinate hiring events, recruitment activities, employer presentations, and networking opportunities.
  • Attend workshops, meetings, and training as requested by the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate and timely data entry in Apricot and other required reporting systems.
  • Coordinate supportive services and community referrals to address employment barriers.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with participants after employment placement to support job retention and career advancement.
  • Maintain communication with employers regarding participant progress, employment retention, and workplace success.
  • Monitor program outcomes and assist in achieving grant performance goals and contractual deliverables.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
