About The Position

Join Casey’s in shaping a better future for our communities, guests, and team members as an Employment Law and Litigation Paralegal! In this role, you'll play a critical role supporting our dynamic and fast-paced legal team focusing on labor and employment matters for almost 50,000 team members across 19 states. This includes conducting investigations into charges of discrimination and similar employment-related claims against the Company as well as drafting initial responses to such claims.

Requirements

Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or a relevant field, and/or a Paralegal certification required.
At least two years of legal assistant and/or paralegal experience in private practice litigation required.
Knowledge and understanding of common and practice-specific legal terms
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Experience with employment law litigation preferred.
Experience drafting legal documents, witness statements and responses to legal claims preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct witness interviews, prepare witness statements, investigate claims, prepare initial responses to employment law related claims
Analyze legal issues and conduct legal research under federal and state anti-discrimination laws.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including being able to identify the most relevant information.
Respond to internal and external inquiries for employment/personnel related documents and/or information
Oversee employment related litigation status and assist with responding to requests for discovery and information from outside counsel
