Employment Counsel - Remote and Reduced Hours
About The Position
Ogletree Deakins, a large labor and employment law firm representing management, has an opportunity for an experienced employment attorney. This role offers increased flexibility with remote work and reduced hours, without the demands of a shareholder/partner track. The position focuses on efficient, effective legal work with a lower billable hours target. The attorney will primarily defend employers in single/multi-plaintiff employment litigation, focusing on California clients. Core responsibilities include developing defense strategy, legal research, drafting pleadings, managing discovery and motion practice, drafting dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, arguing motions, and participating in mediations, trials, and other in-person legal activities. While remote, the attorney will participate in the firm's annual retreat and have access to learning resources. Candidates must reside in Southern California.
Requirements
- Actively licensed to practice law in good standing in California
- Licensed in the state they reside
- 2+ years of relevant litigation experience, either in-house or at a law firm
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Dedication to client service
- High level of self-motivation, accountability for work product, and responsiveness (due to remote nature)
- Demonstrated ability to manage and work collaboratively with attorneys, administrative professionals, and clients
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Developing defense strategy
