About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting individuals with barriers to employment to successfully obtain a job with a local employer in the community. Ariel Clinical Services has been in business for over 30 years! Ariel has grown significantly since its early days of serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Today, we offer a broad range of services including residential programs, vocational support, foster care and adoption, therapy, and much more. We are proud to say we have expanded our reach beyond the Western Slope! Now, we provide services in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age 18.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience with developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of job development best practices based on consultative sales model.
  • Knowledge of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation system and requirements.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic computers and technology.
  • Knowledge of community resources (social, public agency, and information) in order to assist clients in accessing these resources.
  • Knowledge of the type of work Ariel and other social service agencies participate in.
  • Skilled in exercising sound judgment to achieve a positive outcome.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality concerning the client, their family, background, and treatment.
  • Ability to demonstrate regular attendance, and to work outside of traditional office hours including nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally, electronically and in written format in both individual and group settings.
  • Ability to be flexible, and able to change direction rapidly with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently or within a group, prioritize workload, complete a wide variety of tasks in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Ability to provide reliable, insured transportation for self and others through the community served.
  • Ability to demonstrate regular and reliable attendance on an on-going basis.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • CPR, First Aid – before contact with clients.
  • QMAP certification
  • CPI within 60 days of hire; client contact is limited until this training is completed.
  • Informed Supervision training

  • Van Drivers Training – before driving an Ariel owned vehicle.
  • Complete 40-hour course work and pass national test to obtain Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) certification

  • Prior experience in job development and placement with the Developmentally Disabled population.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and complete information needed for referrals to the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR).
  • Conduct outreach to businesses and gather job information through a needs analysis identifying specific tasks and traits the employer is looking for when hiring.
  • Present a plan recommending the hiring of an individual that meets the needs of the employer and utilizes the strengths and abilities of the job seeker.
  • Provide initial on-the-job training and coaching to the individual placed regarding work tasks, schedules, employer rules, work facilities, and workplace culture.
  • Develop an individual long-term support plan identifying natural supports at the business.
  • Maintain up-to-date employer contact information.
  • Complete required documentation daily.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
