About The Position

The Employment Coach will provide community-based assistance to youth and adults seeking vocational skills and independence through employment of various places of employment in various industries. The Employment Coach’s primary role shall include preparation, education, training, job search/placement and coaching support authorized by the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) in a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR’s mission statement. Primarily location for this position – Harford County, Cecil County and Baltimore County.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Ability to support people with cognitive, learning, physical, and behavioral diagnosis.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively advocate with employers.
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively to meet all necessary deadlines.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to meet the needs of the program and adjust hours as needed.
• Adaptability to work in a variety of environments.
• Willingness to learn and the ability to take direction.
• Active listening and keen observational skills required.
• Ability to work autonomously in a community-based environment with support and direction from program supervisor.
• Ability to work with high school students as well as adults.
• Ability to adapt style to serve the varying needs of the individuals supported within the program.
• Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
• Working knowledge of multiple modes of job search platforms.
• Working knowledge of reasonable accommodations and ADA laws.
• Access to reliable transportation for the entire shift.
• Active valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and no more than two (2) points.
• Maintain proof of current automobile insurance.
• Maintenance of all required training under DDA and DORS guidelines and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Para-educator or associates degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Human Services, Human Resources, Marketing and Sales, or related field preferred.
• One to three (1-3) years of experience working with people with differing abilities preferred.
