About The Position

The YMCA of Southern Interior BC (SIBC) is a charitable association dedicated to strengthening the foundations of community. Y programs provide experiences to over 30,000 individuals annually in the areas of health, fitness & recreation, childcare, day camping, employment and community health. Join our Employment and Education Services team at the Y and help to transform the lives of young people and families in the Central Okanagan.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field (e.g. Employment Services/Career Development, Social Work, Youth & Adult life skills building)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with youth and adults in employment programs
  • Direct management and supervisory experience leading staff in a employment service or community program setting.
  • Experience with developing community-based programming and working in collaboration with other community agencies and service providers
  • Strong business writing skills, including experience with reporting and business plans
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolutions skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and decisions; effective prioritizing and problem solving skills
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in a high demand environment
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage time effectively in a fast paced changing environment
  • Administrative experience, background in customer service, computers and general office procedures
  • Vehicle required

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of employment and life/school based services to Central Okanagan.
  • Ensure all Federal/Provincial requirements and standards, YMCA Policies and Procedures, and legal requirements are met.
  • Track program results, complete and submit progress reports, and complete program evaluations.
  • Monitor overall program budgets as required.
  • Work in partnership and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders including YMCA staff and volunteers, Employment Service providers, community agencies, and public partners.
  • Coach, develop and support staff to achieve excellence in service orientation.
  • Participate in the hiring, orientation, and performance development of all direct reports.
  • Assist in the hiring, orientation, and performance development of other staff as required.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of employment and education programs.
  • Perform other related duties as required and be flexible to a changing work environment.
  • Achieve program excellence in the pursuit of strategic objectives and long-term goals.
  • Adopt a culture of Philanthropy that includes relationship building and service to others.
