A practitioner with a level of knowledge, skills, experience in dietetics practice necessary to be an advanced Registered Dietitian professional, demonstrating consistent excellence and empowering others to grow and improve their skills; informal leader. The Registered Dietitian's primary responsibilities include direct patient care through application of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) including the completion of the nutrition assessment, determination of the nutrition diagnosis, developing nutrition focused, evidence based interventions (including the nutrition prescription, example: diet/feeding order) and nutrition monitoring and evaluation; and provides nutrition counseling and education for both inpatient and outpatient populations. The advanced RD is highly skilled in multiple elements, such as, expertise in a variety of patient care areas or an expert in a high acuity care area; communication skills; and confidence in advocating for patients and nutrition therapy with the interdisciplinary team and within the organization and has demonstrated these skills consistently over many years. Practicing at the top of their scope of practice demonstrated by achieving national recognition as an expert in the industry or adding other high level value factors. Confidently and respectfully collaborates with patients and the interdisciplinary team to provide exceptional care. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and contributes to a culture that aims to provide safe, high quality care.
