About The Position

This role focuses on providing comprehensive employee health services, including initial evaluations, ongoing health monitoring, and management of occupational health programs. The nurse will be responsible for administering vaccines, managing workers' compensation cases, investigating incidents, and developing educational programs to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. This position requires adherence to nursing scope of practice, accurate documentation, and effective communication with employees, administration, and other healthcare disciplines.

Requirements

  • Practices within the scope of license.
  • Completes initial employment health evaluation by reviewing rubella, rubeola, and HbsAB results.
  • Evaluates the need for MMR or Hepatitis B vaccine.
  • Ensures completion of TB skin testing, monitors cases requiring physician follow-up.
  • Conducts annual TB skin testing for Hepatitis vaccine program.
  • Administers JSMC's Workers Compensation program and facilitates employee role.
  • Reviews occupational incident reports and maintains appropriate statistics for analysis of working environment and/or need for employee awareness.
  • Submits monthly and quarterly reports/data regarding injury rates, workers compensation, etc.
  • Analyzes data and selects critical factors in initiating reports.
  • Develops and conducts formal educational programs related to Employee Health.
  • Provides regular Employee Health communications newsletter.
  • Informs Administration of current or prospective occupational health hazards and recommends a plan of action to alleviate the problem.
  • Investigates employee incidents which are inconsistent with policy/procedure.
  • Investigates employee exposure incidents for appropriate follow-up/monitoring.
  • Evaluates, consults, and refers employees who have been injured or become ill on the job.
  • Monitors absences of employees due to infectious illnesses, identifies trends, and reports any epidemics.
  • Administers FMLA in accordance with federal/state regulations, JSMC policy and procedure.

  • Documents interventions that are accurate, pertinent, timely and legible.
  • Administers medications observing the "5 rights".
  • Administers medications correctly based on patient's age and clinical condition.
  • Performs skills and tasks required by unit expectations.
  • Provides a safe environment.
  • Includes patient, caregiver, and disciplines in care, council, and health teaching.
  • Demonstrates correct use and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Evaluates the efficacy of medications, treatments, and plan of care.
  • Communicates evaluations to appropriate disciplines.
  • Communicates concerns and assessments to the VP.
  • Provides healthcare at the best value without compromising patient care.
