About The Position

The Employee Harm and Workplace Violence Business Partner is responsible for leading employee safety initiatives, building and maintaining a world class program focused on preventing workplace violence and reducing employee harm. Work includes developing, implementing and tracking strategies focused on reducing workplace violence and reducing employee harm. This leader is responsible for analyzing employee harm trends, identifying strategies and collaborating with leaders to implement a process improvement strategy for safety and workplace hazards to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees. The Workplace Violence Prevention & Employee Harm Coordinator is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the organization’s Workplace Violence Prevention Program. This role ensures compliance with Washington State workplace violence requirements (RCW 49.19 and applicable WAC rules), Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) standards, and relevant accreditation requirements. This position serves as the subject matter expert for workplace violence prevention, employee harm reduction and reporting, incident investigation, data analysis, training coordination, and safety and workplace violence committee collaboration. The Coordinator works closely with leadership, committees, and frontline staff to reduce risk and promote a culture of safety for employees, patients, and visitors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, occupational safety, public health, risk management, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of safe work practices and experience in conducting accident investigations.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in workplace violence or employee harm
  • Knowledge of Washington State workplace violence requirements (RCW 49.19) and L&I reporting expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) 2 years of Healthcare experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and maintains processes, standards, policies and tools to support a safe work environment and aligns with regulatory requirements; including developing, implementing, tracking and reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Lead the development, implementation, and annual review of the Workplace Violence Prevention Plan in compliance with RCW 49.19.020.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Workplace Violence Prevention Committee(s) and Safety Committee(s); providing data, developing and supporting initiatives and work processes focused on reducing employee harm and preventing workplace violence.
  • Evaluates injury and illness reports during the investigative process to identify trends or correlation between accidents and characteristics of jobs, such as their methodology, equipment, or environment.
  • Perform root cause and contributing factor analysis for workplace violence incidents and identify opportunities for prevention.
  • Collaborate with Security, Human Resources, Risk Management, Nursing, and Clinical Leadership to implement corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies.
