About The Position

Northrop Grumman's Employee Communications team seeks an Associate Employee Communications Representative who is eager to support communications planning, enjoys helping inform and inspire employees around business priorities and culture, loves to tell stories, and is motivated to learn and grow through disciplined measurement, analysis and adjustment. This position reports to the Employee Communications Manager and is located in McLean, VA. In this job, you’ll support efforts to inform and inspire employees and drive business priorities within the Defense Systems sector. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to execute strategic internal communications campaigns that engage demographically and geographically diverse audiences, some of whom are difficult to reach. You will write, draft, edit and help facilitate the design and distribution of internal materials, newsletters, employee feature stories and other engaging content. You will be a storyteller – conceptualize, procure and produce a diverse array of inspirational content about our people, technologies, successes and business capabilities, including articles, videos, interviews, Q&As, infographics and photo/caption features. You will maintain the team’s editorial calendar and content tracker to coordinate content and ensure timely delivery. You will draft talking points, speeches, slides, video scripts, employee announcements and executive summaries for senior leaders. You will proactively identify and track upcoming wins and milestones across the sector and support the development and distribution of sector success stories, including amplification across the enterprise, where appropriate. You will develop, implement and measure internal communications plans that inform and inspire employees, drive business goals and support sector and enterprise communications objectives. Ensure all communications plans and tactics are aligned with the company, sector and function strategy. You will serve as a trusted partner to leaders and communicators to utilize sector communications channels to convey priority messages and support broader business priorities. You will own and maintain sector employee communications channels, including the sector intranet home page, sector and site newsletters, distribution lists, key resource mailboxes, texting program and digital signage, ensuring content is coordinated, accurate, current and aligned to business and function priorities. You will serve as the sector intranet home page lead and primary Defense Systems representative for SharePoint, including regular updates to news lists, rotators and A to Z listings. You will act as primary distributor for all‑sector, all‑leader and President messages, and support or back up distribution of division and functional communications. You will monitor key resource mailboxes daily and ensure employee inquiries and requests are addressed within one business day. You will maintain sector employee communications distribution lists and resource mailboxes, including creating, updating and quality controlling Employee Communications owned lists (manual and SmartDLs). You will lead the piloting and implementation of employee communications measurement tools; collect data and support analysis to continuously improve the impact of communications, events and activities. You will assist in the planning and execution of internal engagements including webcasts, site visits, conferences, leadership calls, all-hands, and other leadership engagements. Provide project management, logistics and strategic communications support for special sector events and projects. You will work closely with Communications and functional partners across the sector and corporation to align messages and share best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience managing communications projects, channels or campaigns, drafting communication content, materials and products -OR- 1 year of experience with a Master’s Degree in a related field with similar communications project experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong problem solving, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Associated Press Style.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
