About The Position

The Cross Family of Agencies is seeking a talented and experienced Employee Benefits Account Manager. This role serves as the initial point of contact for employer groups and employees facing escalated service issues. The primary goal is to foster long-term relationships between Cross Insurance, its clients, and their employees. This involves developing and maintaining positive relationships with insurance carriers to meet client needs and facilitate business processing. The Account Manager will also build strong partnerships with Producers, Account Executives, and Account Service Representatives, contributing positively to the overall success of the Cross Insurance team.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred, however at a minimum a high school diploma or equivalent degree and at least three years of experience in employee benefit account management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Maine agent’s license in Health and Life.
  • Possess communication skills necessary to communicate with insurance companies, clients and prospects concerning employee benefit lines of coverage.
  • High level of patience and empathy while working under pressure.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred, basic working knowledge required.
  • Demonstrated ability to compose clear and accurate routine and non-routine correspondence.
  • Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills
  • Proficient in Adobe
  • Ability to learn multiple new web applications for data entry
  • Proficient in managing projects
  • Comfort working with numbers and performing routine calculations accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, responsive and self-motivated.
  • Familiarity with the health insurance industry and New England carriers preferred.
  • Willingness to build upon data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Team player and task oriented.
  • Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions.

Responsibilities

  • Overall management and oversight related to agency accounts (exclusive of sales functions)
  • Marketing assistance for new and renewed accounts (Fully Insured and Self-Funded)
  • Collecting and reviewing census data during renewal / marketing
  • Spreadsheet and proposal preparation
  • Thoughtful analysis of options
  • Responsible for the successful and timely implementation of new and renewed accounts
  • Coordinate communication / enrollment materials
  • Present benefit details at employee open enrollment meetings
  • SPD’s Enrollment and billing
  • Advocate for employer and employee issues
  • Intermediary between employer, employee and insurance or TPA’s regarding dispute resolution
  • Work with clients and their outside advisers to identify compliance related concerns relating to benefit offering.
  • Certificate and contract review to assure benefits meet warranty’s made in sales proposal and meet the expectations of the client
  • Provide ongoing support for Account Executives and perform additional administrative tasks as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of new developments or changes with the various carriers and new Federal/State laws that may affect how our clients must administer their benefit programs.
  • Attend and complete any training sessions or assignments as required.
  • Adhere to client service standards of the department and agency.
  • Perform other tasks on projects as needed/assigned.
  • Complete tasks and file maintenance in Salesforce.
