About The Position

Under the direction of the Building Principal, the Licensed Teacher plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. The role involves creating an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. The teacher will supervise students in various school-related settings, monitor and evaluate student outcomes, and communicate with students, parents, staff, and the community. Responsibilities include developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students, maintaining appropriate records, and ensuring the proper use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Hold or eligible for State of Delaware teacher certification in the identified content area
  • Special Education Certification – Required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, methodology of effective teaching
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
  • Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
  • Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications, excellent human relations skills
  • Submission of translated transcripts prior to job application submission for international applicants.
  • Completion of all questions regarding international applicants.
  • Review of information on the State of Delaware's Department of Education DEEDS website regarding Non-U.S. Application Certification.
  • Submission of criminal background check.
  • Submission of tuberculosis test.
  • Provide proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver's License).
  • Documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A.
  • Completion of I-9 form.
  • Completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in Safety-Care or a similar competency-based crisis prevention intervention training program may be required as a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect consistent with district policies and procedures.
  • Plans and uses classroom time effectively.
  • Implements School Board and school-based policies and procedures to uphold school regulations.
  • Integrates technology in instruction.
  • Communicates curriculum and student-related information effectively in oral and written form.
  • Implements de-escalation strategies and manages classroom behavior using safety care training strategies.
