About The Position

The Harrison School District is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and student-centered Emotional and Behavioral Support Teacher to serve in an Alternative Learning Behavior Supported Classroom. This teacher will provide specialized academic and behavioral instruction to students who demonstrate significant emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. The goal of this position is to help students build the self-regulation, coping, and academic skills necessary to transition to a less restrictive educational setting.

Requirements

  • Valid Arkansas Teaching License

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned to K-12 standards, students' IEPs, and behavior intervention plans.
  • Create and maintain a structured, supportive, and trauma-informed classroom environment that promotes student safety and engagement.
  • Implement evidence-based strategies for behavior management, social-emotional learning, and academic instruction.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, psychologists, special education staff, and external providers to support student well-being and progress.
  • Actively participate in student meetings, student support teams, and family conferences to ensure appropriate support is in place.
  • Use data collection systems to track behavioral incidents, academic growth, and progress toward IEP goals.
  • Utilize de-escalation strategies and crisis intervention techniques in alignment with district-approved training.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, families, and staff to support student success and continuity of care.
  • Support transition planning for students to return to general education or less restrictive settings.
