About The Position

The Powertrain Instrumentation service group is looking for a first shift, UAW represented technician who will be responsible for calibrating, repairing, and maintaining specialized emissions test equipment and instrumentation throughout numerous conventional and electrified powertrain test cells located at the Chrysler Technical Center, in Auburn Hills Michigan. The Emissions Instrumentation Tech will also need to be able to identify, troubleshoot, and correct problems in the field associated with fuel flow meters, torque measurement systems, low voltage dyno wire harnesses, pressure and temperature transducers, etc. In addition, the Instrumentation Technician will be required to work effectively with all levels of management, support engineers, union represented employees, and outside suppliers to maximize available runtime of test cells; including recommendation of modifications and root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with repairing and maintaining instrumentation equipment
  • Strong background in electronics and the ability to diagnose & repair complex issues in the field
  • Hands-on experience using electronic diagnostic tools such as DVMs and oscilloscopes
  • Motivated self-starter with good oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortability with a fast paced work environment
  • Ability to complete job assignments in a timely and effective manner
  • Proficient with MS Office and Google Suite applications

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with repairing and maintaining instrumentation equipment
  • Experience with gas analyzers, soot meters, particle counters, mini-diluters, FTIRs, gas dividers, and calibration gasses
  • Familiarity with emissions certification procedures and testing

  • Identifying, troubleshooting, and correcting problems in the field associated with fuel flow meters, torque measurement systems, low voltage dyno wire harnesses, pressure and temperature transducers, etc.
  • Working effectively with all levels of management, support engineers, union represented employees, and outside suppliers to maximize available runtime of test cells.
  • Recommending modifications and performing root cause analysis.
