About The Position

The successful candidate will help ensure spacecraft and flight experiments can survive launch and operate correctly in space. This involves supporting technology and flight missions through facility upgrades, hardware fabrication, cleanroom operations, providing technical expertise, metrology, and building specialized components. The program aims to improve space flight systems by updating and managing one of the most advanced environmental test and integration centers in the U.S. Government. The EMI Engineer will specifically support EMI Military Standard testing, participate in On Job Training (OJT), and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain high standards in electromagnetic interference testing and analysis. Responsibilities also include working in cleanroom environments, performing electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and maintaining ESD operator certification. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to quality and safety in all testing and operational procedures. The role involves conducting electromagnetic interference (EMI) emissions and susceptibility testing using various GSFC facilities and equipment, as well as providing services related to magnetic properties and field simulation testing, including magnetic characterization, sensor calibration, and de-Gaussing of spacecraft or scientific instruments at GSFC’s Spacecraft Magnetic Test Facility.

Requirements

  • Commitment to quality and safety in all testing and operational procedures
  • Ability to travel as needed for project requirements
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime (OT) to meet project deadlines
  • ESD operator certification
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical safety protocols
  • Experience working in cleanroom environments, adhering to strict contamination control procedures
  • Eligible for work in the United States
  • Able to support NASA GSFC operations in Greenbelt, MD

Nice To Haves

  • Obtain and maintain iNARTE certification in EMI Military Standard testing (strongly encouraged)
  • For Senior-level engineers and technicians: iNARTE certification (requires a minimum of nine years of working or educational experience)
