Emergency Veterinary Technician - Day Shift
About The Position
Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is establishing advanced Emergency and Specialty Medicine in Dunwoody and is seeking experienced Emergency Veterinary Technicians to build its Emergency Services team. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced hospital, enjoy the variety of emergency medicine, and want to utilize their technical skills with an experienced medical team. As a founding team member, you will help shape a new hospital, work alongside experienced Emergency and Specialty clinicians, and develop your skills through hands-on learning and mentorship. The position involves a 12-hour daytime schedule, caring for emergency patients from arrival through discharge or transfer, and contributing to the establishment of strong workflows, patient-care standards, and team culture.
Requirements
- 2+ years of veterinary hospital experience preferred
- Experience in Emergency, Critical Care, Specialty Medicine, Surgery, or high-volume General Practice
- Strong foundation in veterinary nursing
- Strong foundation in patient monitoring
- Strong foundation in venipuncture
- Strong foundation in IV catheter placement
- Strong foundation in medication administration
- Strong foundation in anesthesia monitoring
- Strong foundation in client communication
Nice To Haves
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credentials or ability to sit for VTNE
- RECOVER CPR Certification
- Advanced anesthesia experience
- Experience managing hospitalized or high-acuity patients
- Interest in pursuing advanced specialty training or VTS credentialing
Responsibilities
- Support emergency triage and patient assessment
- Stabilization of critical and emergent patients
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- In-house laboratory diagnostics
- Radiology and diagnostic imaging support
- Medication administration and fluid therapy
- Continuous patient monitoring
- Anesthesia and procedural support
- Oxygen therapy and emergency interventions
- Emergency surgery preparation and recovery
- ICU and hospitalized patient nursing
- Accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Client communication and patient advocacy
- Clear handoffs between shifts and clinical teams
