Requirements

  • Experienced in veterinary medicine (emergency experience preferred)
  • Strong in technical and nursing skills
  • Comfortable with drug calculations, CRIs, and unit conversions
  • Calm under pressure and able to think critically in fast-moving situations
  • Adaptable and able to shift priorities quickly
  • A strong communicator who works well within a collaborative team
  • Passionate about patient advocacy and high-quality medicine

Responsibilities

  • Triage and assess incoming emergency patients, identifying priorities based on clinical presentation and urgency
  • Collect patient histories and communicate organized, thorough rounds to the medical team
  • Partner closely with DVMs to develop and execute treatment plans
  • Perform advanced technical skills including: IV catheter placement, Urinary catheter placement, Venipuncture and sample collection, Blood product administration, Oxygen therapy and critical care support, Advanced patient monitoring, Fluid therapy management, Medication calculations and administration, Constant rate infusion (CRI) setup and monitoring, And so much more!
  • Assist with emergency procedures and diagnostics, including wound care, imaging
  • Help recognize subtle changes and escalating concerns quickly
  • Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia and sedation
  • Perform in-house diagnostics and prepare samples for external laboratories
  • Educate clients on medications, discharge instructions, and ongoing patient care
