About The Position

Animal Emergency Center of Sandy Springs is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and team-oriented Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our growing emergency team. This part-time position offers a consistent weekly schedule with opportunities for additional shifts. You'll have the opportunity to practice Emergency Veterinary Medicine in a fast-paced environment, work alongside experienced Emergency Veterinarians, strengthen your skills in triage, anesthesia, surgery support, diagnostics, and emergency nursing, treat a wide variety of emergency and urgent care cases, be part of a collaborative, supportive veterinary team, and continue growing your technical skills through hands-on learning.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of veterinary clinical experience
  • Emergency, Urgent Care, Specialty, or high-volume General Practice experience
  • Confidence with: Emergency triage, Venipuncture, IV catheter placement, Medication administration, Fluid therapy, Anesthesia monitoring, Laboratory diagnostics, Patient monitoring
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and remain active throughout extended shifts
  • Ability to safely restrain dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently, with assistance available for heavier patients
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to work around animal dander, fur, odors, cleaning products, disinfectants, medications, and laboratory materials
  • Ability to safely work in environments involving animal waste, bodily fluids, blood, sharps, and infectious diseases while following hospital safety protocols
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing patient and hospital needs in a fast-paced emergency environment

Nice To Haves

  • LVT, RVT, or CVT preferred
  • Experienced non-credentialed Veterinary Technicians or Veterinary Assistants with strong emergency experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient triage and assist with emergency assessments
  • Obtain patient histories and monitor patient condition
  • Perform venipuncture, blood collection, and IV catheter placement
  • Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as directed
  • Perform in-house laboratory diagnostics and sample preparation
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures
  • Support emergency procedures and patient recovery
  • Assist with radiology and diagnostic imaging
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment sheets
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and clients
  • Deliver compassionate support during emergency situations
