Requirements

Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) or enrolled in the VEG Credentialing Support Program preferred.
1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician or assistant role; experience in emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
Strong understanding of clinical workflow and team dynamics.
Ability to manage floor operations and guide others with empathy.
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
Flexibility and willingness to assist wherever needed.
Leadership aptitude, ownership mentality, and a desire for professional growth.
Basic computer proficiency, including practice management software and electronic medical records.
Effective communication skills for interacting with pet parents and team members.
Fine motor skills for patient handling and medical equipment use.
Ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, and work on the floor.
Ability to lift up to 25 kg independently and support up to 40 kg with assistance.
Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors.
Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with diverse individuals.

Responsibilities

Maintain awareness of patient status, team capacity, and overall shift needs.
Manage daily workflow and assist the team in adapting to unexpected situations.
Assign and adjust shift roles with clarity and consideration.
Provide direct assistance on the floor as needed, regardless of task size.
Coordinate breaks, help resolve conflicts, and maintain composure under pressure.
Lead shift transitions, team huddles, and daily wrap-up activities.
Communicate effectively, direct inquiries appropriately, and escalate critical issues.
Utilize downtime for learning opportunities or employee rest.
Report incidents and significant events with a focus on transparency and improvement.
Collaborate with hospital leadership on staffing, call-outs, and ongoing staff development.
