About The Position

The Cornell University Hospital for Animals is seeking a talented, energetic small animal veterinarian with strong communication skills for a staff Emergency Veterinarian role. This position involves providing quality emergent care to client-owned animals in a dynamic teaching hospital, with a focus on overnight emergent cases. The successful applicant will work with a strong team of ECC-boarded specialists, residents, interns, and licensed veterinary technicians. This role offers the opportunity to provide exceptional care to dogs and cats needing primary and referral emergency case management, with access to high-level learning, specialist support, and advanced ECC training opportunities. The position also involves collaboration with faculty, house officers, and technicians in the instruction of DVM students within an academic, multi-specialty practice.

Requirements

  • DVM/VMD degree.
  • Completion of a rotating internship or at least 1 year of emergency experience.
  • Alternatively, a minimum of 2 years of companion animal practice experience with less than one year of emergency experience will be considered.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with clients, team members, and local referring veterinarians.
  • Interest in a team approach to high-quality emergency medicine.
  • A growth mindset.
  • Willingness to provide leadership and experience.
  • Excitement about hands-on teaching of DVM students.

Responsibilities
