About The Position

The Emergency Tech II role is a part-time position within the Emergency Department at Chelsea Hospital. This department provides 24-hour care for over 18,000 patients annually, treating a wide range of emergencies from life-threatening conditions to minor injuries. The department features a five-bay observation center and 20 private exam rooms to enhance patient care and privacy. The role involves direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, focusing on age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs, while maintaining a clean and safe patient care environment. Training is provided for colleagues to succeed in performing delegated nursing care tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Recent training/experience with phlebotomy and starting IV’s and experience working in an Emergency Department or Emergency Response preferred

Responsibilities

• Applies support/orthopedic devices such as splints, crutches, slings
• Obtains routine vital signs, pain score and temperature
• Applies warm/cold therapies (warm blankets, ice packs, warm soaks)
• Routine oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry
• Assist in preparing the body following death
• Promptly answers call lights
• Assists with Quality indicators (crash cart integrity checks, refrigerator temperature logs, accucheck quality controls, urine dipstick controls)
