Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic patient assessment skills including primary survey.
  • Basic knowledge of primary interventions.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • High level of compassion, desire to help others, and self-confidence.
  • Basic computer knowledge with demonstrated administrative skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of ED Technician experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy, ECG Tech, or EMT preferred.
  • EMT-B or nursing student in final year as verified by official transcript.
  • ECG course/certification, medical terminology, EMT- B/I/P.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient services and care, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control.
  • Collects data reflective of the patient status and report the information needed to the licensed clinical staff in the Emergency Department.
  • Performs clerical, safety attendant and other duties as assigned within their scope.
  • Receives delegated work by a Registered Nurse or member of the medical staff and is part of the care team.
  • Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Assists/provides patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse.
  • Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment.
  • Organizes supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques.
  • Adheres to safety measures.
