Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training completed with in three months of hire and maintain as current.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Basic EMT (EMT-B), Advanced EMT (AEMT),Paramedic License or CNA license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to nursing and physician staff in the Emergency Department by performing tasks which assist in the treatment and care of patients with illnesses or injuries, taking into account individual patient’s physical or age-related needs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • The Emergency Department Technician demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to consistently provide care appropriate to the age of the patient, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
  • Provides direct personal care under the supervision of the nurse within the scope of practice of the Certified Nursing Assistant I or II and Emergency Department Technician.
  • Participates as a contributory member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Completes all documentation within departmental requirements and timelines.
  • Participates in the responsible management of all departmental/hospital resources.
  • Works with the ED team to maintain equipment and supplies and adequate inventory levels.
  • Assumes responsibility for meeting annual in-service requirements and ongoing personal development.
