About The Position

We are looking for an Emergency Service Technician to join our team in Geismar, LA. The ERT role will provide the primary contact on site for fire, medical, and rescue calls and will lead the incidents. The role will also be responsible for providing rescue plans and keeping a list of all active confined space entries. During your shift, you will respond to emergency events, serve as on-scene incident commander, provide site security services during off-hours, participate in emergency preparedness activities, act as a primary emergency medical responder, support maintenance and inspection of emergency response equipment, provide hands-on field support for various systems, and build effective working relationships. Requirements

  • Hold a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bring 2+ years of experience in emergency response.
  • Possess or are eligible to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Hold or be able to obtain required certifications including Industrial fire fighter and State or National EMR certification (or higher).
  • Able to complete and maintain HAZWOPER Technician and NFPA 1081 Advanced Exterior Industrial Firefighting certifications.
  • Willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, on a rotating schedule.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, multitasking, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Can read, write, and speak English.
  • Physically able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to wear required safety equipment and SCBA, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, work at heights, stand or walk for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to complete and maintain required NIMS certifications (100, 200).
  • Participate in ongoing emergency response training and drills.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in security, HAZMAT/HAZWOPER response, chemical production or process environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power Apps).

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency events including Fire, HAZMAT, EMS, and Rescue in accordance with Emergency Response Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs), prioritizing life safety, incident stabilization, and property conservation.
  • Serve as the designated on-scene incident commander during emergency events in alignment with the site Incident Command System (ICS), supporting hazardous chemical spill response, cleanup, and confined-space rescue operations.
  • Provide site security services during off hours, weekends and holidays by conducting patrols, investigating security incidents, inspecting inbound vehicles, verifying TWIC credentials and regulated areas, assisting with badging, and supporting the level-one guard force.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness activities including site-wide drills, confined-space and fire/rescue pre-planning, and delivery of on-shift Fire, HAZMAT, EMS, and Rescue training to brigade members.
  • Act as a primary emergency medical responder for EMS events and provide mutual aid assistance to external companies in accordance with established agreements and Emergency Response leadership direction.
  • Support maintenance, inspection, and readiness of emergency response equipment, including bunker gear, HAZWOPER PPE, fire hydrants and monitors, breathing air bottles, EMS and rescue equipment inventory, and fire apparatus upkeep.
  • Provide hands-on field support for emergency response systems, confined-space entry activities, fire systems, and safety and health compliance activities across the Geismar site.
  • Build effective working relationships with operations units, fire brigade members, and EHS/ESS team members to support coordinated emergency prevention, preparedness, and response programs.
