About The Position

The Emergency Department (ED) Technician II provides patient services and care, cleans, maintains, and stocks supplies and equipment, and applies principles of standard precautions and infection control. This role requires demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide services appropriate to the population and age group served in the emergency department. The ED technician collects data reflective of patient status and reports information to licensed clinical staff, relative to patient-specific age and needs. The ED Technician also performs clerical, safety attendant, and other duties as assigned within their scope, receiving delegated work from a Registered Nurse or medical staff member as part of the care team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Licensure: Phlebotomy, ECG Tech, EMT, or NA
  • Basic patient assessment skills including primary survey
  • Basic knowledge of primary interventions
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills
  • High level of compassion, desire to help others, and self-confidence
  • Basic computer knowledge with demonstrated administrative skills

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of ED Technician experience
  • ECG course/certification
  • Medical terminology
  • EMT- B/I/P

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient services and care under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse or medical staff.
  • Clean, maintain, and stock supplies and equipment, including assisting in room turnaround and organizing supplies.
  • Apply the principles of standard precautions and infection control.
  • Collect data reflective of patient status and report information to licensed clinical staff in the Emergency Department.
  • Perform clerical, safety attendant, and other duties as assigned within their scope.
  • Receive delegated work by a Registered Nurse or member of the medical staff.
  • Assist with patient care throughout the entire patient experience.
  • Comply with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Understand concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques.
  • Adhere to safety measures.
