Requirements

  • ADN, Diploma, BSN or Foreign Equivalent
  • Registered Nurse: AZ
  • American Heart Association BLS
  • American Heart Association ACLS, within 9 months
  • American Heart Association PALS, within 12 months
  • Emergency Nurses Association TNCC, within 12 months
  • Society for Trauma Nurses ATCN, within 12 months
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to collaborate and utilize resources

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year emergency room experience

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient/family health, develop comprehensive nursing care plans, and provide evidence-based direct care to acutely ill patients across the entire lifespan (neonates to geriatrics), handling everything from minor to life-threatening situations.
  • Prioritize and organize patient care, acting as a patient advocate, swiftly adapting to changing conditions, and utilizing SBAR for effective communication.
  • Complete nurse-to-nurse reports, participate in quality improvement, delegate tasks, and involve patients/families in their care through therapeutic communication.
  • Use emergency triage protocol to intake, discharge or admit patients.
  • Deliver stabilizing care to emergency patients of all ages as part of the larger ER team, adapting care to changes in patient’s condition as needed.
  • Use knowledge of cultural differences to provide patient care that is sensitive to and consistent with cultural values, beliefs, and customs.
  • Recognize and adapt to changes in patients condition (i.e. Lab, vitals, signs and test values) in a timely and clinically appropriate manner.
  • Delegate tasks based on the needs of the patient, potential for harm, patient stability, task complexity, and outcome predictability within the scope of skill set and practice.
