The Emergency Service Technician assists physicians and registered nurses in providing technical care to patients. This role involves performing phlebotomy, transporting patients, monitoring vital signs, performing wound care, and obtaining lab specimens. The technician may also perform IV starts if permitted by state regulations. Key responsibilities include documenting patient information and procedures, communicating observations to nurses, processing daily patient charges through the EHR, and coordinating communication with various parties. The technician is also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment, monitoring and troubleshooting equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles.
