Emergency Service Head Veterinarian
About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Augusta, GA is seeking a full-time Emergency Service Head Veterinarian (ERSH) who will work alongside our ER Clinicians, Specialists, and Leadership Team to ensure the highest quality medicine and services for pets and our community. The Emergency Service Head is a clinically practicing manager of the hospital’s ER Clinician team. As supervisor to ER Clinicians, the role is responsible for all day-to-day matters impacting direct reports including scheduling, hiring, training, mentoring, facilitating regular ER meetings, and representing the ER team as a hospital leader. The incumbent works during a variety of shifts to support the team and collaborates with the Medical Director to ensure the highest level of patient care.
Requirements
- DVM from accredited university required.
- Successful completion of rotating internship or the BluePearl’s EmERge program required.
- 2+ years of clinical experience required.
- Must possess valid applicable DVM licensure.
- Demonstrated capacity to multitask and successfully manage competing priorities required.
- Strong leadership ability with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated stress tolerance and attention to detail.

- Prior shift lead experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage the hospital’s ER Clinician team.
- Responsible for all day-to-day matters impacting direct reports including scheduling, hiring, training, mentoring, facilitating regular ER meetings, and representing the ER team as a hospital leader.
- Work during a variety of shifts to support the team.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director to ensure the highest level of patient care.
- Deliver expert care to critically ill or injured pets.
- Utilize cutting-edge diagnostic tools and perform life-saving procedures.
- Contribute to a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team of specialists.
- Engage with pet owners compassionately, providing clear communication on medical conditions and treatment plans.
- Mentor and train less experienced Clinicians and Interns.
