About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Summerville, SC is seeking a full time Emergency Service Head Veterinarian (ERSH) who will work alongside our ER Clinicians, Specialists, and Leadership Team to ensure the highest quality medicine and services for pets and our community. The Emergency Service Head is a clinically practicing manager of the hospital’s ER Clinician team. As supervisor to ER Clinicians, the role is responsible for all day-to-day matters impacting direct reports including scheduling, hiring, training, mentoring, facilitating regular ER meetings, and representing the ER team as a hospital leader. The incumbent works during a variety of shifts to support the team and collaborates with the Medical Director to ensure the highest level of patient care. About BluePearl, Summerville: We are looking to expand our current emergency and critical care department due to the high caseload and growth of the service. We have a full complement of specialists including internal medicine, surgery, oncology, neurology and work in a collaborative environment. Our hospital in Summerville is equipped with the most state-of-the-art tools available, including CT and MRI machines, ultrasonographic examination capabilities, complete endoscopy services, and in-house laboratory diagnosis. Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an AVMA accredited school, or an ECFV certification is required.
  • Current license to practice veterinary medicine in this state.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills, with the ability to make rapid and accurate assessments in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate bedside manner.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a rotating internship or residency in emergency and critical care preferred but not required.
