About The Position

The Emergency Room Technician Nights will assist patients as needed in preparation of a medical screening. They will transport patients within the emergency department or to other units, and provide emotional support and respond to patient and family inquiries within the scope of the role. This role involves measuring and recording vital signs, performing phlebotomy and labeling specimens accurately, and conducting electrocardiograms (EKGs) and reporting findings to appropriate staff. The technician will also assist with wound care, including dressing changes and applying pressure dressings, and perform basic medical procedures. Monitoring and reporting changes in patient condition to the primary nurse or physician, and assisting in patient stabilization and preparation for procedures are key responsibilities. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, following all infection control procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines, and cleaning medical equipment and ensuring proper storage are also essential. Accurate documentation of patient information, care activities, and vital signs in the electronic health record (EHR) is required. Effective communication with RNs, physicians, and other healthcare team members regarding patient status, and assisting in the coordination of care by relaying important information to the care team are crucial. Participation in educational programs and in-service meetings, and performing other related duties as assigned or requested are also part of the role.

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician or Certified Medical Assistant Training Program preferred.
  • Previous related experience working in clinical care preferred.
