About The Position

Sentara Lake Ridge is hiring a Full Time & Swing shift Freestanding Emergency Department Registered Nurse! This position is located in Woodbridge, VA and operates on a Swing Shift from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire. This position's primary duties include assessing/admitting patients, rounding checks, giving medications, talking with family members, and being responsible for the overall care of your patients. Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License - Single State License - Virginia OR Registered Nurse (RN) License - Compact/Multi-State License
  • RN-Associate's Degree OR RN-Bachelor's Degree OR RN-Diploma OR RN-Master's Degree OR RN-Doctorate Degree
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
  • ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process.

  • Meet and maintain specific clinical area requirements, including ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire for Emergency Care.
  • Obtain BLS within 90 days of hire.

  • Administer medications.
  • Communicate with family members.
  • Be responsible for the overall care of patients.
