The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) provides high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced Emergency Room environment while following established protocols and guidelines. The unit sees routine and typical ER patients; STEMIs and hemorrhagic strokes are sent out. Nurses assess and manage patient care, collaborate with physicians and midlevel providers, monitor vital signs, provide interventions for acutely ill patients, perform triage, document patient information, and support quality improvement and regulatory compliance. The unit has 33 patient-care rooms, including 25 rooms equipped with cardiac monitors, and a triage area with two bays staffed by midlevels and nurses or LVNs. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, and the unit sees an average of 210 patients per day. A charge nurse, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy support are available 24/7. Floating outside the ER is not permitted. Orientation includes up to six shifts with a preceptor. Scrubs must be navy blue, with matching scrub jackets and undershirts.
