About The Position

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Emergency Room RN seeking a fast-paced, team-focused environment where professional growth, advanced clinical practice, and exceptional patient care are prioritized. The Emergency Department provides care for a diverse patient population, primarily adults with occasional pediatric patients. Registered Nurses are highly skilled in stroke activations, STEMI activations, trauma care, emergency stabilization and intervention, and evidence-based emergency nursing practices. Success in our department is built on teamwork. RNs work closely with Emergency Department physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, registration teams, and support staff to ensure an exceptional patient experience.

Requirements

Graduated from an Accredited Program with a specialized field of study in nursing.
RN license.
BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of starting.
A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a Level I Trauma Center.
Experience in a Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center.
Experience with approximately 220 patient visits per day.
Experience in a department with 50 exam rooms and 6 trauma bays.
Experience in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities

Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
Conduct patient assessments, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.
Secure patient travel.
Understand patient needs in healthcare.
Help patients and prevent issues.
Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting plans to reach desired outcomes.
Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.

Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
