About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Room Nurse to provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced emergency department. The 26-bed ER sees approximately 55,000 visits annually, with a daily patient volume of 40–160. It is a STEMI and CVA receiving center, treats patients ranging from minor complaints to trauma, and has a five-bed fast track. The department serves a diverse, low socioeconomic status patient population. There are no separate psychiatric or seclusion rooms; the unit sees approximately 2–3 such patients per day.

The position is scheduled for 12-hour day shifts, with 36 hours guaranteed per week. Nurses work every other weekend and must be available to work two of the three major holidays. Holidays rotate with core staff. RNs wear navy blue scrubs. The department uses Cerner FirstNet; respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of Emergency Department experience.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Work every other weekend and be available to work 2 of the 3 major holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse range of patients in the emergency room.
• Perform lab draws, IV placements, and other essential clinical procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, and support staff to promote efficient patient flow and care.
• Read and interpret EKG strips and monitor patient status in the emergency room.
