About The Position

Emory Healthcare (EHC) is seeking a capable Emergency Room Float Tech for their internal travel team. This flexible program allows team members to tailor their work/life balance. The Float Tech performs a variety of clinical tasks to facilitate patient care by assisting nursing and physician staff. Responsibilities include IV insertion, Foley catheter placement, performing and documenting vital signs, notifying the triage nurse or physician of critical patients, communicating with waiting room patients, conducting needs analysis for supplies based on ED volume, monitoring stock and supplies to maintain par levels, accurately entering physician orders into the computer, and answering phones. This is a PRN position requiring 48 hours per month with 12-hour shifts available (7 am-7 pm and 7 pm-7 am), and weekend shifts vary. The role involves travel between Emory locations within Emory Healthcare.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Graduate of an accredited EMT or Paramedic training program.
1-year minimum previous experience.
Must have current certification as an EMT-I or Paramedic.
AHA CPR certification.
AHA ACLS if Paramedic.

Responsibilities

Ensures that physician orders are accurately entered into the computer.
Answers phones and direct inquiries as appropriate.
Performs other duties as required.
