Intel's Ocotillo campus is seeking a skilled, driven, and technically minded professional to join our Dedicated Emergency Response Team (DERT) as a Module Equipment Technician. The DERT is an elite team of specialized technicians embedded within Intel's advanced fabrication facilities. Unlike standard maintenance roles, DERT technicians function as first responders for critical equipment events — mobilizing rapidly when tools go down, diagnosing complex failures under pressure, and restoring production with precision and urgency. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that sits at the intersection of technical expertise, problem-solving, and operational excellence. In this position, you will maintain and troubleshoot some of the most sophisticated semiconductor manufacturing equipment in the world, working side by side with Intel's world-class engineering teams across Fab 12, Fab 32, Fab 42, and Fab 52. Every shift you work contributes directly to the production of Intel's most advanced chips — the technology that powers billions of devices and drives progress across every major industry on the planet. This role operates on a Compressed Work Week (CWW) schedule, featuring 12-hour shifts that provide extended consecutive days off — giving you more flexibility, better work-life balance, and more time for the things that matter most to you outside of work. Requirements

  • Lift 35-pound (18kgs) 4 times a day (on average)
  • Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Climb and perform work on ladders 1-3 times per-shift (on average)
  • Wear an air respirator, when required, per-safety requirements ( on average 1 time per-shift)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 4+ years of related hands-on experience OR military technical experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2.5+ years in a related equipment maintenance role.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND Technical/trade certification OR 3+ years technical experience.
  • Associate degree in STEM Related field AND 2+ years of related equipment maintenance experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
  • 1+ year of experience with: Military experience Advanced Node Semiconductor manufacturing experience in a production environment.
  • Experience in emergency response.
  • Experience performing hands-on preventative, corrective maintenance on 300mm semiconductor equipment (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated skills to influence the content and creation of new specs, procedures and business processes related to equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of process control systems.
  • Experience with schematics and complex drawings/diagrams.
  • Integrated circuit fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a frontline first responder for critical equipment failures across Intel's Ocotillo fabrication facilities, rapidly assessing situations, diagnosing root causes, and implementing effective corrective actions to restore production with minimal downtime and yield impact.
  • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) programs and perform corrective maintenance (CM) on advanced 300mm semiconductor manufacturing equipment, ensuring tools operate consistently within defined process specifications and performance targets.
  • Actively support all phases of wafer fabrication — including equipment operation, process step execution, and cross-functional training — to meet and exceed fab production objectives across advanced node manufacturing.
  • Apply systematic diagnostic techniques and analytical problem-solving skills to identify the root causes of equipment malfunctions, process deviations, and yield excursions, driving sustainable corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
  • Identify, analyze, and address sources of equipment-related defects and process variability, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, process consistency, and overall fab performance.
  • Work proficiently from technical manuals, engineering specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and complex engineering drawings, utilizing a broad range of tools and test equipment to perform maintenance and troubleshooting tasks with accuracy and safety.
  • Collaborate closely with process engineers and equipment engineers to influence the creation, revision, and improvement of maintenance specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and business processes that drive operational excellence across the fab.
  • Partner effectively with engineering teams, fellow technicians, and operations leadership to communicate equipment status, share technical insights, escalate issues appropriately, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning, safety, and high performance.
  • Utilize process control systems to monitor equipment performance, identify deviations from baseline parameters, and take proactive steps to maintain process stability and product quality.
