The Emergency Response Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the training and development of the Mine Rescue Team to ensure team members are equipped and capable to safely and proficiently perform rescues while maintaining compliance with MSHA regulations and OceanaGold Standards, Policies, and Procedures. This role involves developing and maintaining onboarding processes and continuous internal training programs, including monthly underground and surface training plans, yearly scheduling, and coordination of external rescue training and competitions. The coordinator will also maintain comprehensive training, testing, and certification records, manage notification systems for certification expirations, and maintain the Mine Rescue member roster and daily shift coverage. Additionally, the role ensures adequate incident command capabilities, regulatory compliance, and manages inventory and service records for all Mine Rescue supplies, equipment, and vehicles. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring equipment readiness, conducting regular inspections and audits of fire protection systems, administering training management systems, and updating policies and procedures. They will develop and maintain emergency response plans, create after-action reports, coordinate annual drills, and ensure Mine Rescue Team compliance with MSHA requirements. This includes participating in inspections, assisting with regulatory reporting, coordinating fire extinguisher maintenance, maintaining the Mine Rescue House and Training Facility, and developing budget proposals. The position also provides on-call support, assists with EMT roster management, and supports the site Incident Management Team.
