About The Position

Overview Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for an Emergency Preparedness/Safeguards & Security Co-Op in Richland, WA. This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Requirements

  • A U.S. citizen.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • An active full-time student during the two semesters/quarters immediately preceding the assignment.
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) during their college enrollment.
  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, or related field.
  • Able to work 15-40 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 6:30 am-5:00 pm.
  • Basic understanding of Emergency Preparedness, Emergency Response, Health and Safety, Safeguards and Security, and/or HAZMAT response and requires direct instruction on daily work and new assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint software.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing presentations.
  • Coursework in Emergency Management.

Responsibilities

  • Support Navarro-ATL’s Emergency Preparedness (EP) and Safeguards & Security (SAS) organization by applying classroom-based education to gain hands-on practical experience within field of study
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and concepts.
  • Perform a variety of administrative support activities in areas such as Emergency Preparedness training, drill development, and drill performance and evaluation.
  • Participate in Safeguards and Security walkdowns, planning meetings, and surveillances.
  • Prepare and organize program documentation packages and submit them to records
  • Complete required training.
  • Ensure work complies with applicable procedures.
  • Perform research, compile data, and prepare reports.
  • Interface with and coordinate activities between various internal and external organizations.
  • Support the development and delivery of Emergency Preparedness classroom and field-based training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
