About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS) and Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (BUCAMED) are seeking applications for Emergency Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers. We are seeking candidates with experience and interest in working across both academic and community settings, and who are committed to building strong partnerships between these environments. As an integrated health system, we are providing emergency services across three emergency departments: BMC Main, BMC South, and BMC Brighton. The Department has over 75 faculty and fellows and over 35 APPs who practice across the three sites. The BMC EM residency program is a 4-year training program, and it is the first program in the city and one of the oldest in the Northeast. It has 56 Emergency Medicine residents who practice and learn at all three clinical sites. BMC - Boston is the largest and busiest provider of trauma and emergency services in New England, the ED serves more than 130,000 patients annually. BMC is a not-for-profit, 514-bed, academic medical center, level-1 trauma centers that provides a comprehensive range of services in more than 70 areas of medical specialties and subspecialties. BMC is steeped in its mission of providing consistently excellent and accessible health services to all in need. BMC - South is an acute-care hospital located in Brockton, MA (25 minutes south of Boston). It is the only designated Level III Trauma Center in the region with 60,000 ED visits per year. BMC - Brighton is a community tertiary-care hospital located in Boston with 208 acute care beds including 38 ICU beds. It is nationally recognized for cardiac care including 24/7 cardiac catheterization with 25,000 ED visits per year.

Requirements

  • Physicians: Completion of an ACGME-approved Emergency Medicine residency
  • Physicians: ABEM/AOBEM certified or eligible
  • Physicians: Meet requirements for and obtain Massachusetts Medical Licensure and clinical privileges in Emergency Medicine at Boston Medical Center Health System.
  • APPs: A Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants is required or master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner's Program.
  • APPs: Current Massachusetts license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively alongside our emergency physicians and Emergency Medicine residents.
