About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville is seeking a full-time research faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The role involves establishing an independent, extramurally funded clinical research program of high quality and assisting with existing funded projects. Candidates from disciplines such as toxicology, pharmacy, emergency medicine, emergency medical services, or critical care are encouraged to apply. This position offers an opportunity to join a dynamic academic community and contribute to advancing acute care, resuscitation science, and emergency medicine research within a supportive, interdisciplinary setting. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a high-impact, funded research program aligned with the department’s focus areas, including pain management, emergency medical services/prehospital care, clinical toxicology, pharmacogenomics, asthma, and precision emergency medicine. Collaboration with clinicians for patient-focused, translational research is key. The candidate will also be responsible for seeking funding from various sponsors, including industry, foundations, and federal agencies. The department is building a core of clinical researchers to foster interdisciplinary research in emergent/critical care topics, complementing existing departmental and college strengths.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, etc.) in a field related to emergency medicine/acute care/resuscitation science.
  • Promising publication record (for early career candidates).
  • Post-doctoral research experience (for early career candidates).
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain extramural research funding as a principal investigator (for mid-career candidates).

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years of experience conducting research in emergency medicine/acute care/resuscitation science.
  • Proven track record in receiving funding from diverse sources, including industry, foundation and federal sponsors.

Responsibilities

  • Establish an independent and extramurally funded clinical research program of outstanding quality.
  • Assist with ongoing funded projects.
  • Develop a high-impact, funded research program that aligns with the department’s focus on pain management, emergency medical services/prehospital care, clinical toxicology, pharmacogenomics, asthma, precision emergency medicine, and other related fields.
  • Partner with clinicians in a multidisciplinary approach to conduct patient-focused, translational research.
  • Pursue funding from a wide variety of sponsors, including industry, foundation and federal sponsors.
  • Contribute to building a collaborative and interdisciplinary research core centered around emergent/critical care topics.
