About The Position

We are seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for a Locum Tenens position in Abbeville, LA. This role involves providing clinical coverage in a hospital setting, managing a patient volume of approximately 45 patients per day. The position requires handling all ages and a general emergency medicine case mix. The Emergency Department is equipped with 7 ED beds and 3 Fast Track beds, utilizing the Cerner Community Works EMR system. Specialty backup is available from Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Podiatry, and Surgery, with NP/PA support staff on hand. This is a full-time, temporary position covering a period of 12 to 18 months, with both day and night shifts available.

Requirements

• Active LA license, DEA, and CDS required
• BC/BE in EM/FM/IM with Emergency Medicine experience
• DEA required
• ACLS, ATLS, PALS required if not ABEM certified
• Residency trained in EM/FM/IM required
• CME and case logs required
• LA PCF required
• Clean file required for temporary privileges

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency department coverage
• Evaluate and treat acute and critical patients
• Manage patient flow in ED setting
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Perform Emergency Medicine procedures
• Administer moderate sedation
• Manage critical care cases
