Boston Medical Center - South (BMC-South) is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their emergency team. This is a wonderful opportunity to join a stable collegial staff of Emergency Medicine Physicians and Advanced Practitioners who provide care to approximately 65,000 patients annually. Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year experience in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care is required.
  • A Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants is required or master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner's Program.
  • Current Massachusetts license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively alongside our emergency physicians and Emergency Medicine residents.
  • BMC requires all staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu, as well as receive a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain comprehensive patient histories, meticulously documenting medical, social, and family backgrounds to inform accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations to evaluate patients for admission, utilizing advanced clinical skills to identify and assess medical conditions.
  • Deliver expert care in emergency situations, managing patients with varying levels of acuity, from minor injuries to life-threatening conditions, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
  • Execute bedside diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with precision, ensuring optimal patient care.
  • Coordinate and facilitate diagnostic tests and specialist consultations, ensuring seamless integration of services for timely and effective patient management.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, maintaining clear and effective communication with referring and consulting physicians to ensure cohesive patient care.
  • Serve as a strong advocate for patients, ensuring their needs and preferences are met, and providing compassionate support throughout their treatment journey.
  • Provide thorough consultation and education to patients and their family members, explaining treatment options and medical care plans, and offering compassionate support throughout the healthcare journey.
  • Prepare patients for discharge, ensuring they understand their post-discharge care instructions, follow-up appointments, and any necessary lifestyle adjustments to promote recovery and well-being.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and education, staying abreast of the latest advancements in emergency medicine and incorporating best practices into patient care.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff and trainees, fostering a collaborative and educational environment that promotes growth and excellence in emergency care.
  • Play a pivotal role in community health initiatives, participating in outreach programs and health education efforts to improve overall community well-being.
