About The Position

This is a contract position that requires on-site work, offering a unique opportunity to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced emergency setting. As a key member of our medical practice, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive emergency care to patients, working closely with physicians and nursing staff to ensure effective patient management. This role not only contributes significantly to patient outcomes but also supports our mission to provide compassionate care in urgent situations.

Requirements

  • Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (PA/NP)
  • Increased patient census and staffing shortages.
  • Immediate start for a period of 13 weeks, with the potential for extension as necessary.
  • Emergency Department/Fast Track work environment.
  • Monday through Sunday, from 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM, consisting of four ten-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend with designated days off during the week.
  • Manage lower acuity patients in an acute care setting, specifically within a 6-8 bed unit of the Emergency Department (Fast Track).
  • Attend to an average of 8-12 patients daily, with potential variations in patient volume based on circumstances.
  • No on-call responsibilities required.
  • An estimated 10-20 patients per day on average.
  • Each shift will include physicians, other Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, as well as Medical Assistants and Registered Nurses.
  • EPIC Electronic Medical Records System.
  • Candidates must be board certified.
  • California Controlled Substance Course Certificate (mandatory at time of presentation).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and physical exams of patients in the emergency department.
  • Administer diagnostic tests, interpret results, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide acute care for traumatic and medical emergencies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient care and service delivery.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and promptly in electronic medical records.
  • Educate patients and families on health conditions and post-discharge care.
  • Assist in emergency procedures and manage critical cases.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
