About The Position

This position addresses physician leadership for the Emergency Department. This position is responsible for all services/systems required for an organized, multidisciplinary team approach directed toward the provision of the highest quality patient care. This position addresses the maintenance of established patient care standards and protocols through continuous quality improvement and total quality management activities.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed physician in the state.
  • Must have successfully credentialed through the Medical Staff Services of Southeast Health.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in an emergency situation.
  • Ability to perform technical skills in accordance with credentialed competencies as determined by Medical Staff policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical direction to the ER, including planning scope of services, equipment specifications, space design, and standardization of patient care policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a positive marketing relationship with physicians and companies to ensure effective communication, coordination, and funding.
  • Collaborate with the medical staff of the hospital to determine outcome indicators for the provision of quality care and monitor them appropriately.
  • Identify and address issues that affect members of the medical staff.
  • Maintain positive relations with members of the medical staff.
  • Assist in the development of marketing plans and activities.
  • Advise and assist in the development, administration, and implementation of annual and long-term business plans.
  • Provide financial services, including working with the Department’s management team in the supervision of accounting, reporting, and control procedures.
  • Develop and ensure the proper implementation of financial planning and control systems at all levels, and use the information derived from such systems to properly assess, plan, and control the financial affairs of the Department.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the quality of care being rendered by the Department and cooperate in the hospital’s quality assurance program in monitoring quality and outcome of care administered by staff.
  • Assist the Department’s management team in the development, review, and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate on committee or team assignments involving the ER's services.
  • Communicate to the medical staff and associated departments issues requiring their attention.
  • Keep the administrative liaison abreast of medical staff issues related to the ER.
