About The Position

The Mayo Clinic Department of Pharmacy has a dedicated ambition for creating a patient-centered, integrated care model to advance the Mayo Clinic’s Bold.Forward. strategy with focus on People and Culture, Practice Innovation, Care Team Evolution, Discoveries and Cures. In stride with these goals, in 2025 alone, our department reached over 225 scientific publication outputs and over 80 active quality improvement projects with the Mayo Clinic Quality Academy. Nearly 250 pharmacy staff attained academic rank in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and are being increasingly recognized on regional, national, and international stages. Our department’s pharmacy residency has been accredited by ASHP since 1973. It has grown to become the primary training site for 21 pharmacy residents including 15 various specialty residencies, 12 longitudinal local pharmacy students, and 9 pharmacy summer interns from around the country. Our staff also regularly interface with and educate medical trainees including physician residents and fellows. Requirements

  • Must be a licensed Pharmacist.
  • Experience in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care.
  • Ability to function within a team of overnight ED/ICU pharmacists.
  • Willingness to work a q4weekend or q3weekend rotational model.
  • Ability to rotate between the ED and ICUs when not working overnights.
  • Situational awareness and task prioritization in the ED.
  • Progressive collaborative practice agreements in the ED and ICUs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality, comprehensive bedside patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Respond to house-wide medical codes.
  • Provide recommendations regarding drug therapy.
  • Identify drug-related problems.
  • Participate in medication ordering and drug preparation in emergent situations.
  • Provide clinical consultations and participate in resuscitations through emergency telepharmacy and telemedicine services.
  • Provide didactic lectures, simulation training and orientation for ED and ICU multidisciplinary team members.
  • Precept pharmacy students, PGY1, and PGY2 EM and critical care specialty learners.
  • Involvement in scholarly activities including quality initiatives, and multidisciplinary research.
