About The Position

Assist Ambulance is seeking certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in New York State for full-time and part-time positions at their Brooklyn or Bronx base. Assist Ambulance is a New York City EMS agency with 30 years of experience providing BLS and ALS emergency medical and transportation services across the five boroughs. They serve various healthcare facilities, including hospitals, nursing homes, and doctor's offices, adhering to strict protocols from the Department of Health and Regional Emergency Medical Services Council of NYC.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have an active NY State EMT-B card (NREMT card alone is not accepted).
  • EMTs hired as drivers must be at least 20 years old with 1 year of driving experience in New York City.
  • Must have a valid New York State D Class driver’s license with no more than 3 major moving violations in the past three years (DJ licenses/permits are not accepted).
  • Must be physically fit to lift 125 lbs. and pass a lifting assessment.
  • Must be able to get 19A physical clearance and negative PPD test (vouchers provided).
  • Must be able to pass a 10-panel drug screening.
  • Must be able to commit to at least two 8-hour shifts per week that are the same days every week (steady shifts).
  • Must be good with people and able to act responsibly under extreme duress.
  • Applicants' criminal history will be considered consistent with the requirements of the New York City Fair Chance Act.
  • Must be able to attend three days of in-person pre-hire assessments.
  • Must be able to attend driving assessments on a separate date (if eligible to drive).

  • NREMT card is not accepted alone.

Responsibilities

  • Follow guidelines from the Department of Health - Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems.
  • Adhere to Regional Emergency Medical Services Council of NYC protocols for Basic Life Support.
  • Respond to a large volume of emergency calls.
  • Potentially transition to 911 services with One Brooklyn Health after approximately 6 months of employment.
