About The Position

Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center, a 167-bed community hospital and member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT I). The hospital provides acute care services to Garden Grove and surrounding communities, including emergency services, critical care, general medical/surgical care, orthopedics, maternity care, and wound care. The Emergency Medical Technician assesses and provides basic management of medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies under the supervision of a staff nurse and/or physician. The EMT assists with patient care according to individual patient needs and scope of practice, helps maintain a safe environment, and works under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse. This is a part-time position with a variable shift.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience; required for new hires effective April 2014.
Basic EMT training or emergency room experience.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current, if required by the facility.
Current PALS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current, if required by the facility.
State-certified or state-licensed EMT certification, if required by the facility.

Responsibilities

Assess and provide basic management of medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies under the supervision of a staff nurse and/or physician.
Assist with patient care based on individual patient needs and within the scope of practice.
Assist in maintaining a safe environment.
Perform duties under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
