About The Position

Under supervision by licensed personnel the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will perform a variety of functions in the support and care of patients requiring urgent or emergency care. The EMT receives direction and assignments from physicians and nurses and provides technical support to optimize patient care. The pediatric emergency department at Children’s Minnesota St. Paul hospital is a 32-bed, Level IV trauma center that specializes in the assessment and stabilization of acute pediatric illness, injury and trauma. Our multidisciplinary care team of more than 150 pediatric professionals cares for over 45,000 patients a year, and can treat just about anything. The St. Paul emergency department offers 24-hour access and has some of the shortest wait times in the country. The emergency department has all private rooms, two resuscitation rooms, and is staffed with board-certified, pediatric emergency medicine physicians, pediatric nurse practitioners, and certified pediatric emergency registered nurses. Requirements

  • Current National EMT Licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Education
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • National EMT Licensure
  • Proficient communication, critical thinking and prioritization skills required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English to perform functions of the position
  • Skills in basic computer operation

Nice To Haves

  • Previous 1-2 years Emergency Room Technician/EMT or equivalent experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations and hospital procedures preferred
