The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) works under the direct supervision of the Medical Transport Supervisor. This role requires knowledge of patient treatment and stabilization, including definitive techniques within the scope of practice and certification limitations, as governed by the Department of Public Health. The EMT will care for patients across all age groups, from neonate to geriatric. Clinical duties must adhere to population-specific guidelines and the Georgia Department of Public Health, as outlined by the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma. The position involves operating emergency vehicles and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of pre-hospital emergency medicine. Responsibilities include ensuring the ambulance is clean, decontaminated, fueled, and fully stocked, as well as maintaining and retrieving equipment. The EMT must also complete mandatory NGHS education, use sound judgment in problem-solving, adhere to the chain of command and the NGHS Safety Took Kit, dress in appropriate uniform attire, and use radio communication professionally. Documentation must be completed accurately and expeditiously according to Medical Transport standards.
